🎯 Project Scope
Alo România was created as a digital extension of a local Romanian TV station, with the goal of publishing news quickly, clearly, and consistently across desktop and mobile. The website needed to support daily content updates, embedded video, multiple content categories, and a simple backend workflow for non-technical editors.
The project also required a structure that could support long-term growth through SEO, advertising, and audience retention. This meant building more than just a clean homepage — it needed to function as a scalable publishing platform.
THE CHALLENGE
News websites have very different needs compared to standard business or eCommerce sites. The platform had to balance speed, readability, content volume, ad placement, and easy editorial control. Since the site would be used regularly by a team, the backend also needed to stay manageable and intuitive. Another challenge was creating a layout that felt modern and credible while still being flexible enough for ongoing changes in content priorities, breaking news, video features, and monetization needs.

🧩 Design Approach
The design direction was based on clarity, trust, and usability. Because this is a news platform, the interface needed to feel serious and credible without becoming visually heavy or outdated. I customized the JNews theme to create a cleaner editorial experience, with strong typography, clear spacing, and structured content blocks that help readers scan articles quickly. On the backend, I focused on making the system easy for editors to use. The layout was designed so that content could be updated regularly without requiring complex technical knowledge, allowing the team to stay focused on publishing.
The design balances readability, performance, and editorial control.
SEO & PERFORMANCE
Because content discoverability is critical for a news website, I configured the site with an SEO-friendly structure using Rank Math. This included optimized article formatting, category organization, metadata control, and a setup designed to support better indexing over time. Performance was also an important priority. The site was built to load efficiently while handling media content, homepage modules, and regular publishing activity. This helped create a smoother reading experience and a stronger base for audience growth.
📈 Results
The platform now supports a growing monthly audience, with traffic reaching tens of thousands of visitors through consistent content publishing and search visibility.
